Stop Believing These Five Chrysler Service Myths

December 15th, 2022 by

By the time most of us reach adulthood, we no longer believe in the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus, and if someone insisted Jimmy Hoffa was buried on the 50-yard line at Giants Stadium, we’d look at them funny. But when it comes to getting Chrysler service, people believe some things that are just as gobsmacking. Let’s look at five of the most common.

#1: I should change my oil every 3000 miles.

It’s common to hear average recommendations for the time between services like oil changes or filter replacements. However, these numbers differ between models and can also vary depending on your driving and vehicle use habits, so follow your vehicle’s service schedule as listed in your owner’s manual.

#2: It’s a new car. It won’t need service any time soon.

A new car is still a machine with many parts that need to operate correctly. Even if you don’t notice anything wrong with your vehicle, it’s always advisable to bring it in for service according to the maintenance schedule.

#3: I can handle most repairs myself.

They don’t build ‘em like they used to. That’s good (today’s new cars last longer) and bad (there’s less the driver can service themselves). Unless you’re a trained car mechanic, it’s best to let a Chrysler service team handle any required repairs or maintenance.

#4: Any mechanic can fix my Chrysler vehicle.

While any mechanic might be able to diagnose and fix common issues, MOPAR® certified service departments have specific knowledge of the makes our dealership carries, and can better help fix your vehicle.

#5: If a warning light goes away, the problem is solved.

If you receive a warning light and it later stops appearing, that doesn’t mean your car has magically been fixed. Instead, it could be a sign that the associated part is malfunctioning some of the time. Alternatively, it could mean your warning lights system is faulty.
